Greetings From the Office of Councilwoman Marmorato

Since assuming office in January 2024, our dedicated team has been actively engaging with constituents to address a diverse range of issues, with a particular focus on street cleaning and providing assistance for emergency food and financial benefits. On January 15th, in commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr., we collaborated with the Van Nest Community for a successful street cleanup initiative. With the invaluable support of our partners at ACE and DSNY, Lydig Ave. and Esplanade Ave. were thoroughly cleaned, and ACE also extended their assistance with snow removal for our senior residents.

In addition to our regular participation in community board meetings, we have been organizing enjoyable and informative events for our community. On February 15th, we co-sponsored a delightful Valentine’s Day Dance at St. Frances De Chantal Church Hall, catering specifically to our older adults. The event featured lively dancing, engaging bingo sessions, and delicious food. Furthermore, on February 16th, we hosted informative Homeowners Benefit & NOPV (Notice of Property Value) information sessions at Fort Schuyler House. Homeowners had the opportunity to participate in Q&A sessions focusing on property assessments, taxes, and related topics. To commemorate Black History Month, we held a middle school poster contest, celebrating their favorite figures or events in black history. On March 6th, we hosted a Homeowners Forum at Bronx House Community Center, where homeowners gained valuable insights into foreclosure prevention, home repairs, property tax abatements, exemptions, as well as information on recycling, garbage disposal, and sidewalk maintenance.

Looking ahead, please save the date for our upcoming events in March. The TLC Mobile Bus will be stationed at Morris Park Community Center on March 15th, offering taxi and limousine drivers services such as safety training, licensing inquiries, annual drug testing, and TLC-issued violation services. In honor of Women’s History Month, we will host a Women’s Distinction Breakfast on March 20th, celebrating women who have made positive impacts in our community. Lastly, on March 30th, in collaboration with the American Italian Cancer Foundation, our office will provide a Mammogram Bus offering free mammogram screenings to attendees.

For further information or to address any concerns, please feel free to contact our office or drop by – our doors are always open, and we are here to support our community!

With Gratitude,

The Office of Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato
